THE RED THREAD
2019

Multiple mediums.
Public commission, The Red Thread, 2019 for pre-school in Hökarängen, Stockholm, Sweden.

The artwork The Red Thread integrates the building of the preschool, made for and to be experienced by the children. From the centre of the building, defined by a red sphere (only perceived as round from the perspective of a small child) emanates three red threads. They integrate and adapt to the material and surface they trespass (such as tiles, plastic mat, asphalt, grass, lamp post and led-light) extending into the outdoor playground and illuminating the façade at night.

Prize for Best Collaborative Project 2019. Motivation by Stockholm Art —
Collaborative project of the year 2019. The artist Anna Ådahl has developed an idea into a coherent figurative expression. Her artistic design literally runs through the new preschool in Farsta. The project is the outcome of an exemplary collaboration between commissioner, entrepreneur, project leader, and artist. A collaboration that shows how the free arts may enrich the public environment in which the youngest generations are formed.
